For years I struggled with restrictive diets that led to binge eating. For years I felt like I lacked motivation because I could never stick with a meal plan or exercise routine. I remember crying on my bedroom floor after a huge binge (6 ciabatta rolls with honey and butter later). I felt so full I was sick, but so completely empty inside. This was the night I gave up. That night everything changed. The moment I surrendered myself, my health, and my self-care habits to God was the moment everything changed.

And no, not like a magic wand, everything is better now, kind of change. But a deep surrender of the things that promised me happiness but kept me going in circles kind of change. I let go of the illusion that being “skinny” promised and started swimming deep in the promise of abundant life that couldn’t be found in a mirror or a scale. God met me in the most hopeless and lifeless place in my life. And He invited me down a good, life-giving, soul healing path, one that you can walk too.

I was afraid to go down that path for so long though because deep down I wanted to believe that my body could bring me satisfaction. Everything I wanted in life was supposed to be found on the other side of the mirror, I just needed to have my own approval. But I could never give myself approval. I was never good enough. Too thin. Not curvy enough. Too curvy. Not thin enough. My own standard wasn’t stable. Enough was never enough and I finally had enough.

The more I tried to see my worth in the mirror the more I saw how cracked my world felt and how shallow my life was. I felt disappointed in myself…There had to be more. Abundant life isn’t found in a certain jean size. But where do I go next?

I gave it all up. Dieting, extreme exercise, trying to prove myself to others, and myself. I invited God into the part of my life I thought He most likely didn’t care about. Wasn’t taking care of yourself vain? Then why did I care so much? Either way, I invited Him into what felt like the dirty secret closet that was my “health and wellness” part of my life and God didn’t shame me but entered into my brokenness and began the restoration.

It wasn’t without ups and downs (that felt like mountains lol) but I stopped binging, began intuitive eating, and I finally felt like the life was breathed back into me. God was making things new. Something He is really good at going.

But even after I stopped dieting and discovered intuitive eating, my mindset got better but I wondered why I still felt exhausted all the time, had extremely painful periods (picture me lying in the fetal position on the cold bathroom floor praying for relief while popping Advil) even though I was doing everything “right.” I was doing paleo, low carb, no sugar, and intermittent fasting. Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do? Isn’t that what everyone else who is “healthy” is doing?? My body wasn’t thriving, actually it felt like I was barely surviving with: thyroid issues, digestive problems, fatigue, hair loss, fertility hormone issues, extremely painful periods, and the list goes on.

Here I was set free from an eating disorder, with a healthy mindset, yet my body felt more unhealthy than ever.

But then one day everything changed again.

I was in the middle of getting my certification to be a nutrition coach through the National Academy of Sports medicine and was learning about nourishment and the connection it has with our metabolism and hormones.

Bingo! 💡

I didn’t need to cut another carb, kiss sugar goodbye, or get rid of the little joy left in my life that comes in the form of coffee.

I needed a plan to nourish my body in a way that honored the way that God MADE it. To understand and fuel my metabolism in a way that supported my hormones. To learn how God created everything from food to sunshine, to sleep, to coexist and create harmony in your body and ultimately your life. And so I did. What makes this program different from everything else out there?

As you know, there are plenty of others in the health and wellness industry. So much of the advice I see elsewhere is perfectionistic and nearly impossible to stick with when you've got internal struggles that must be overcome for long term changes.

Because what's the best workout program? The one you can be consistent at. BUT ALSO the kind that doesn't leave your body using muscle for fuel defeating the purpose of your workout and only creating more stress in the body. Do you see how there's a few parts to this? Same with healthy eating. Intuitive eating is great but without understanding proper nourishment and HOW to support your metabolism (that's what happened to me) you might be left still struggling even though you're doing things right as far as being at peace with your plate. You are complex but wellness doesn't need to be and that's exactly why I created the Wellness Method for you. That's why I'm not just giving you ONE piece to the puzzle like "here's a workout program" without the mindset you need to be consistent with that program or the foundation of nourishment to recover from that workout and actually repair properly so you're not stressing your body and doing more harm than good. OR JUST "intuitively eat and listen to your body" which is GREAT and YES you should do that but without understanding how to support your metabolism To help you shift your mindset and also understand how to properly nourish and move your body so you can feel good, inside and out. So you're not given all these different peices of the puzzle and trying to figure it all alone with more downs than ups.

My style of teaching is also designed to not overwhelm you with information that ends up giving you analysis paralysis. I get right to the heart of the matter and give you what you need to know to not be afraid of food but informed, empowered and be able to implement changes quickly but make them last for your lifetime. Think of this as your shortcut to sustainable long-term healthy living.

I also noticed it's extremely difficult to find the foundational elements of healthy living (mindset, God, nourishment, recovery...)in other programs (that's why this isn't just a workout program or just a nourishment program or just a mindset program it's all of them together!)

Also, jumping into an intense workout program that is not properly programmed OR intensely working out if you're not properly nourishing your body and recovering will come at a cost. Also with other programs there's a lot of pressure for external change with before-and-after photos as the most signifcant form of progress and unfortunately that is not the right way to determine if a program is effective OR the best way to measure progress. Research has shown that appearance & seeing physical changes is the most motivating factor for physical exercise for women which means it's ALSO the most discouraging when you’re not seeing results - and I want to get you on the path of consistency and FEELING better because long term change beats quick fixes every time. It's time to get off the hamster wheel.

It's also NOT another diet. It's not a meal plan either. It teaches you how to think about nourishment in a way that will help you take care of your body not be at war with it.
